Abstract

Body diagrams are frequently used in clinical environments for patients to describe areas of pain. The numbers of body areas of pain have previously been shown to predict disability in population-based studies. The current study sought to evaluate the ability of a body diagram to predict subjective report of pain and quality of life over a 3 week time frame. 41 people with fibromyalgia with average age of 49.1 ± 12.9 years. Subjects completed questionnaires: Body Diagram, Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ), McGill Pain Questionnaire (MPQ) and a visual analog scale (0-10) for pain at rest on two occasions three weeks apart.
