Abstract

This study develops a Ni-Co based flaky magnetic polishing tools, made using an electroforming. The vacuum heat treatment at 300℃ changes the mechanical properties of the Ni-Co magnetic polishing tools. Although this improved the finishing performance, the addition of ferrous particles was required to assist the finishing performance for the internal finishing of SUS304 stainless steel tubes. Subsequently, Ni-Co magnetic polishing tools containing WA abrasive were developed. Finishing experiments demonstrated that the subsequently developed tools achieved fine finishing without the assistance of ferrous particles and were superior to the existing WA magnetic abrasives, which is the only magnetic abrasive currently on the market.
