Abstract

Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) is a method that can be used in mobile diesel after treatment systems to reduce harmful NO_X emissions. In order to achieve better performance of SCR systems, spatial distribution of reducing agent and the evaporation and thermolysis efficiency of Urea Water Solution(UWS) are crucial factors. In this study, the effect of the initial droplet size distribution on conversion and local distribution of the reducing agent was investigated by 3D CFD analysis. The Model of evaporation and thermal decomposition of UWS was implemented into KIVA-3V. The calculation result indicated that initial droplet size distribution with wide range contributes to high dispersing quality of the reducing agent.
