Abstract
This study is concerned with position control of a water hydraulic cylinder using the water hydraulic proportional valve. Modelling was made about the water hydraulic proportional valve that the authors have developed, and the water hydraulic cylinder connected to it The simulation was carried out by MATLAB/Simulink. The proportional control system was built, in which the cylinder displacement was detected by LVDT and fed back to the controller. The simulation and experimental results were compared for the step response and the response to a sinusoidal input. Since the indefinite parameters remained, the responses did not quite agree, but the settling time agreed well comparatively.
