Abstract

An electromagnetic actuator, which consists of an electric motor and a ball screw and nut, has been expected to be a new actuator for active vibration control of an automobile suspension. The actuator generates electrical voltage proportional to its stroke speed, therefore it is feasible to estimate state variables of the mechanical system by measuring electrical variables. The authors propose to achieve active control without devices sensing mechanical variables. The feasibility is shown through the numerical simulation considering non-linear characteristics of the electromagnetic actuator.
