Abstract

This paper deals with a simulation-based scheduling method of manual work in consideration of learning by On-the-Job Training (OJT). As of skillful work such as maintenance work of trains and airplanes, workers have to leam many kinds of work with OJT While processing time of novice workers is longer than that of experts, the time will be reduced with repeating OJT. Therefore, OJT is important to keep skill level and long-term work efficiency of the organization. In order to schedule in consideration of OJT, the scheduler must incorporate a management function of workers to trace work experience changing dynamically. In this paper, a simulation method that uses a worker model and an agent-based mechanism is proposed to derive the optimal OJT strategy toward long term performance. And, the effectiveness of this model is discussed.
