Yaksh, PhD, MS a member of the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Yaksh's formidable career has focused on the mechanisms of pain, and he has made many observations and discoveries that have advanced the field. Tony is well-known for being a collaborative and generous colleague who has promoted the careers of many. Prior to arriving at UC San Diego in 1988, Dr. Yaksh served in the U.S. Army, then spent time at the University of Wisconsin, University College London, and Mayo Clinic Rochester investigating mechanisms of opiates and non-opiates in the modification of central nervous system pain processing, studying basic physiology of unmyelinated fibers of the nervous system, and investigating neurotransmitter release.
