Abstract

Electrospun scaffolds get a lot of attention as useful tools for tissue engineering. To mimic the nonlinear elastic property as the blood vessel, we combined two polymers, PL-CL: poly (L-lactide-co-s-caprolactone) that has high elasticity and good biocompatibility and PL-LA: poly (L-lactic acid) that has high porosity and rigidity. However. PLCL scaffolds suffer from a low cellular infiltration rate, likely due in part to their low porosity and dense fiber packing. To increase their porosity. PL-CL and PE(): poly (ethylene oxide) (a water-soluble polymer) were co-electrospun from one spinneret to form dual-polymer composite scaffolds. With removal of The PEO component these PL-CL scaffolds got the porosity that was about 30% higher than normal PL-CL scaffolds. When seeded with mesenchyrnal stem cells (MSCs). MSCs were observed only in the cross-section of the high porosity PL-CL scaffold. The combination of the high porosity PL-CL and PL-LA will result in the ideal scaffolds for tissue engineering.
