Abstract

Objectives: Determination of tumor invasion depth and anal sphincter involvement in patients with rectal tumor is important for therapy choice. Standard transrectal sonography (TS) is obligatory part of TNM-staging in these patients. It allows to visualize five layers of rectal wall, pararectal structures and tumor invasion depth. Investigation goal was to reveal the possibilities of sonography with 3D reconstruction in estimation of invasion depth of rectal and anal cancer.
