Abstract

The causes of right flank pain are variable and most of these are correlated with urogenic organs. Most clinicians and radiologists carefully examine urogenic organs. However, some of diseases cause vagueness or discomfort at the area without relation to urogenic organs. We illustrate diseases with causes of flank pain originating from non-urogenic organs. We divided three categories of diseases as follows; hemorrhage (aortic aneurysm rupture, abdominal wall vessel rupture), inflamation (pancreatic pseudocyst, diverticulitis, retrocecal appendicitis, psoas abscess, localized Tbc. abscess in the posterior pararenal space, necrotizing fasciculitis, liver abscess), cystic lesion (hepatic capsular cyst, retroperitoneal mucinous cystadenoma). Variable diseases may cause right flank pain. Although most of diseases with right flank pain are caused by urogenic problems, some are caused by non-urogenic ones. Accordingly, we should consider both urogenic and non-urogenic diseases causing right flank pain. Most of these are easily diagnosed and solved by means of ultrasound.
