Abstract

It is important problems for environment to suppress the oil consumption of spark ignition engine. We approached to clear the dispersion mechanism from the piston ring surface by means of adjust the surface tension of lubricating oil and wettability of a piston ring. Experimental results show oil consumption increase by using silicon coated piston ring. We propose the numerical calculation model to predict the behavior of oil droplets on the piston ring surface. Calculated results show that the increase of wettability angle of piston ring surface accelerates oil consumption and surface tension of oil effects on oil consumption.
