Abstract

AbstractNMR shifts and spectral linewidths of 205Tl in molten TlCl ‐ Tl2S mixtures have been measured as a function of composition. With increasing Tl2S content the chemical shifts increase toward the paramagnetic direction and the lines become broader. At the Tl2S‐rich end, no resolvable spectra were obtained due to anormally broad linewidth or rapid relaxation rate. This rapid relaxation rate may be attributed to the formation of the paramagnetic center Tl2+; their concentration and lifetime have been estimated from the present NMR data and electronic conductivity data.
