Abstract

Linear motor displacer has been used mainly for Stirling refrigerator. Stirling engines having linear motor displacer have been hardly seen because of its low thermal efficiency. On the other hand, electro assisted Stirling engines such as Semi Free Piston types have a merit on the easy control of power. When the energy such as the terrestrial heat and solar energy exists unlimitedly, the easiness of the control of power will be given priority over the thermal efficiency. In the space environment, the solar energy is unlimitedly obtained and the clean engine which does not make the inner air of the space station or space colony polluted will be demanded. Therefore, the electro assisted Stirling engine will be effective against the space application. In this paper, linear motor displacer system is proposed for the electro assisted Stirling engine for the space application.
