Abstract

In this study, several different types of delamination (partial debonding in the adhesive layers) were introduced in carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) laminated cantilever beams and then experimental measurements and finite element method (FEM) numerical analysis and simulation were applied to free vibration of those specimens made in this study. The experimental measurement showed that first bending mode frequencies and their modal loss factors varied when delaminations were introduced in the specimens. Distributions in each laminate with delamination of transverse shear strain energy and contact pressure were also obtained by FEM and then quantitatively examined.
