Abstract

Patient is a 53 y/o woman with a history of low back pain not improved with physical therapy, medications, chiropractor manipulations or epidural injections who presented for discogram evaluation. During interview, patient's history revealed an iodine allergy, so discogram of L3-L4 and L5-S1 was scheduled with gadolinium instead of omnipaque. The patient would then undergo a post discogram MRI. Due to iodine allergy, patient was pre-medicated with medrol 32 milligrams at 12 hours and 2 hours prior to the procedure along with Benadryl intraoperatively.
