Abstract

In the actual spray combustion fields, coupled combustion process between the pre-evaporated fuel component and remaining liquid droplets should be occurred. Therefore it is insufficient for only droplet or only premixed mixture combustion study to clarify the fundamental spray combustion. In this study, the field of premixed mixture - droplets coupled combustion as a model of the spray combustion was focused. In the experiments, the effect of the flame pattern and the burning rate constant by the interference between the droplets were clarified with the variation of droplets fuel. Besides, the coupled combustion field was experimented, and the effect of the premixed gas on the droplets was clarified. The experiments were carried out under the normal gravity field and the microgravity field, thus, effect of convection on combustion process was clarified.
