Abstract

The purpose of this study is to help middle school students understand the concept and practical use of sustainable construction technology by developing hands-on activities using light environment design for‘Structures and Construction’core concept in the 2022 revised curriculum for middle school technology and home economics. In this study, research was conducted in five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The main research results of this study are as follows. First, by analyzing the 2022 revised curriculum, previous research, and curriculum, a class curriculum plan for the 8th session, teaching materials for teachers, learning materials for students, and grading rubrics were developed. Second, the hands-on activity applied a light environment design that minimizes the use of artificial lighting and efficiently utilizes natural light, and designed, produced, and evaluated architectural models including light shelves and skylights. Third, as a result of an expert feasibility review, all items including level, time, goal, interest, and problem situation were valid. Fourth, as a result of applying the hands-on activities in class, students were interested in the topic and there was a positive response in that light environment design can be a practical method for sustainable development.
