Abstract

PREFACEWe are honored to bring you this collection of articles from the 2019 9th International Conference on Future Environment and Energy (ICFEE 2019) which was held in Osaka, Japan from January 9 to 11, 2019. ICFEE 2019 is dedicated to issues related to Future Environment and Energy. The primary focus of the conference is to bring together academic scientists, engineers, and industry researchers to share their experiences and research results, and discuss the practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted. The ICFEE 2019 served as a good platform for the scientific community where 90 participants met, exchanged ideas and research results, and examined the way forward regarding future environment and energy. The former Vice-President of the International Water Resources Association, Prof. Ngai Weng Chan did the Opening Remarks for the conference in the first day, with Prof. Kondo Akira from Osaka University, Japan doing the Opening Remarks for the conference on the second day. There were four Keynote Speeches. Prof. Orawan Siriratpiriya from Aquatic Resources Research Institute, Chulalongkorn University (ARRIe) presented the 1st Keynote Speech titled “Closed Materials Looped with Low Carbon Technologies to Sustainable Society” on 9th January. This was followed by the 2nd Keynote Speaker Prof Ngai Weng Chan from the School of Humanities, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia who spoke on “Sustainable Urban Drainage as a Viable Measure of Coping with Heat and Floods Due to Climate Change”. On the 2nd day 10th January, the 3rd Keynote Speaker was Prof Kondo Akira from Osaka University, Japan who spoke on “Simulation in City Block Environment by CFD Coupled with Meteorological and Air Quality Model”. This was followed by the 4th Keynote Speaker Prof. Jae K. Park from University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA who presented his ideas on the talk titled “Life Cycle Analysis of Photovoltaic Solar Panels”. All the four keynote speakers focused on the latest information and most innovative developments in their respective expertise areas on future environment and energy. For the conference proper, there were nine sub-sessions and one poster session with various interesting topics as follows: Environmental Management and Sustainable Development, Atmospheric Monitoring and Water Quality Analysis, Environmental and Chemical Engineering, Building Energy Efficiency and Energy Management, Life Cycle Analysis of Photovoltaic Solar Panels, Combustion Science and Power Engineering, Urban Engineering and Transportation Engineering, Battery Technology and Photovoltaic System Optimization, Geological and Civil Engineering.
