Abstract

This special issue of Marine Resource Economics includes five selected papers from presentations at the 7 Biennial North American Association of Fisheries Economists (NAAFE) Forum held in St. Petersburg, Florida, USA from May 21 to 24, 2013. The selected papers cover a diversity of topics relevant to fisheries economists addressing the broad theme of the Forum “Marine Resource Management under Increasing Complexities and Uncertainties.” The articles cover recreational and commercial fisheries, consider fishing behavior and quota lease prices that may have been affected after a movement toward rights-based management, and examine spatial dynamics in a fishery as a result of changing environmental conditions. They showcase new approaches to evaluating fisheries and provide quantitative information to fishery managers.
