Abstract
MEL and expressions are useful in setting up and controlling solid-body dynamics systems. This chapter presents several examples to explore the use of MEL to construct scenes using solid body dynamics and the use of collision events to trigger behaviors both in scenes that only consist of solid bodies and in scenes that combine solid bodies with particles. One of the examples looks at particles and how they interact with surfaces. In another example, a method for triggering particle behavior with collisions, called an event, is presented. Events can cause particles to do certain things when a particle collides with a surface, or a number of collisions have taken place. In another example, particle collisions are used to act on multiple solid bodies with added expressions. In this example, a small MEL window is created to control the direction for particle emission.
