Abstract
Possible, but not realized variants for the formation of the Russian society at the turn of the century («German», «Chinese», and «East-European» models) are examined. Mechanisms and methods of social and economic transformations within the framework of the forementioned models are analyzed. Hardships of the transition from a totalitarian society to the rule of law and civil society, effective economy are shown. Attention is focused on the problems connected with the prevalence of two opposite mentalities in the Russian society — «collectivist» and «individualist», commitment to which influences determining the life of society decisions which are made by the authority. Privatization, unreasoned from the standpoint of national interests, which was carried out by the Russian reformers in the first half of 1990s is criticized. Measures which, in the opinion of the author, can contribute to deliberate and acceptable for the society development of the state are discussed.

И сегодня, более чем через 20 лет (время взросления одного поколения), актуальность проблемы становления, развития правового государства и гражданского общества в стране не вызывает сомнения. Что будущие фашистские лидеры по молодости лет начинали именно как социалисты. После провала ГКЧП у новой России была возможность выбрать «немецкий путь», если бы тогда коммунистическая идеология была приравнена к фашистской и, соответственно, был бы принят закон о люстрациях как в постфашистской Германии.
