Abstract
We consider [Formula: see text]-tangle replacements of link diagrams, i.e. replacing a crossing of a link diagram [Formula: see text] with a [Formula: see text]-tangle diagram [Formula: see text]. We show that if [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] are adequate then the [Formula: see text]-tangle replacement, denoted by [Formula: see text], is also adequate. This gives a way to obtain infinitely many new minimal crossing diagrams.
