Abstract
In exploring selective extraction systems for use in environmental remediation or in metal scavenging agents for use in combinatorial chemistry, a novel reagent for the selective extraction of copper(II) has been developed. 2-Quinoxalinol salen ligands supported on an aminomethyl-polystyrene resin has been shown to efficiently and selectively extract copper(II) ions from organic solvents within 30 min under a variety of experimental conditions. Mild reducing conditions allow for metal ion recovery.
