Abstract

Despite the obvious advancement in technologies of synthetic fibers modification, the reduction of labor intensiveness and energy consumption of such technologies, increased stability of effects of surface modification of fibers, and expansion of the range of modifying substances remain relevant tasks. Possibilities to solve some of these tasks at targeted modification of polyester fibers with the crazing technology are addressed in this chapter. The trend in the development of the global production of chemical fibers, in particular the polyester ones, is analyzed. The main features of the crazing method for polyester fibers which consists of modification of the fiber surface layer with targeted additives in the course of orientational drawing of fibers are considered. Possible technological schemes for fibers modification are discussed. Laboratory equipment for fine-tuning of technological schemes for fibers modification is described. The crazing module compatible with the industrial staple machine is offered and developed.
