Abstract
We performed the 2-D particle-in-cell simulation of the laser wakefield in an inhomogeneous plasma to study the dependence of the speed of the wakes to the electron density of the background plasma to search the condition of “accelerating flying mirror”. Acceleration of the plasma wakes is not observed in the simulations with the parameters that we have tested.
