Abstract

Scientists have sometimes collapsed the complexity of sexual partnerships into simple categories such as 'concurrency' (e.g. - Carey, Senn, Seward, & Vanable, 2010) or 'main' vs. 'casual' partners (e.g. - Houston, Fang, Husman & Peralta, 2007). The purpose of this research has been to seek to understand how members of at-risk communities actually conceptualize sexual partners and condom use and to recommend prevention strategies based on these cultural data.
