Abstract

Anxiety and depression, collectively internalizing disorders, affect nearly 1 of 5 children during childhood. Left untreated, they can become chronic and impairing with lifelong consequences. Current diagnostic methods require access to clinicians and are based solely on parent-report, which can unintentionally overlook unobservable symptoms. Given the need for better screening methods, the Kiddie Internalizing Disorder (KID) study aims to develop an accessible, brief, and objective tool to help identify anxiety and depression in children via their physiology: the CHAMP app.
