Abstract

(2 + 1) resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization studies are performed on the D 2Π(ν=2) state of CH. Anomalous line intensities are shown to be due to an accidental near resonance with the C 2Σ + state at the one-photon level. The sudden onset of predissociation for N ⩾ 12 of this level is investigated and is attributed to complex interactions among three 2Π states in this energy region.
