Abstract
1H,13C, 29Si NMR and 35,37Cl NQR spectra have been obtained for (chloromethyl)silane, H3SiCH2Cl. The results are compared with the corresponding parameters of ethyl chloride, H3CCH2Cl. A less polar C—Cl bond is found in the silicon compound, due to the electronic effect of the silyl group H3Si. Previous findings are in agreement with this conclusion.
