Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper describes a novel method for the determination of the temperature distributions within a firebox of a coal power plant. Beside the temperature distributions, this method also allows for determining the particulate matter density and its spatial distribution. The method uses the spectroscopy approach. We present the description of the experimental setup, and the detailed mathematical model used for the measurement data analysis and interpretation. Finally, a set of experimental measurements was performed on the premises of a large commercial coal power plant. The experimental results were analyzed in order to benchmark the validity of the proposed model.
