Abstract

A fluorescent silver(I)-based coordination polymer, {[Ag(4‑bpmd)]ClO4·DMF}n (1), has been successfully constructed from N,N′‑bis(4‑pyridylmethyl)diphthalic diimide (4‑bpmd) with silver perchlorate through solvothermal conditions, which was further characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra, and thermogravimetric analysis. Single crystal X-ray structure analysis reveals that complex 1 crystallizes in 1D helical chain. Of particular interest is that the alternating left-hand and right-handed helixes have been orderly staggered in the crystal structure. These neighboring chains are further connected through π⋯π stacking interactions and CH⋯O hydrogen bonds, resulting in the formation of 3D supramolecular structure. Furthermore, the photoluminescent properties for metal cations were studied at room temperature.
