Abstract

The neutral one-dimensional coordination polymer [ Zn 2 ( bpp ) ( pht ) 2 ] ∞ 1 (bpp = 1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane, pht = 1,2-benzenedicarboxylate) ( 1) has been synthesized by the hydrothermal reaction of zinc sulfate with mixed ligands in mixed EtOH/H 2O solution. The structure of complex 1 consists of an infinite neutral dinuclear zinc chain linked by pht and bpp ligands. The Kurtz powder technique shows that complex 1 has a powder SHG of about two times as large as that of potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP), which validates that complex 1 is a non-centrosymmetric crystal structure.
