Abstract

Purpose: Individuals with obesity often have disordered eating behaviors and cognitions. However, little is known about whether there is a difference in their cognitive patterns based on the presence or absence of a Binge Eating Disorder (BED) diagnosis. The primary aims of this study were to: 1. examine the self-reported eating disorder-related cognitions and behaviors in a care-seeking adolescent population with obesity; and 2. compare the eating disorder-related cognitions and behaviors of those with and without BED. A secondary aim of this study was to explore differences in eating disorder-related cognitions and behaviors based on race/ethnicity.
