Abstract

Animal bites are an increasingly prevalent cause of trauma to the maxillofacial region. Injuries can involve laceration and loss of soft and hard tissue plus crushing and devitalisation of underlying structures, as well as a high infection risk. This is a study of patients that have sustained animal bites to the maxillofacial region and presented to the Emergency department at the Royal Free London NHS Trust for Maxillofacial review since the start of the COVID-19 lockdown in the UK.
