Abstract

This article aims at analysing the May 1968 discourse of Korean intellectuals who tried to accelerate the rapid modernization of Korea. May 1968 was a radical presentation of problem to western society begun to be transformed greatly from that point on. It was a huge shock to Korean intellectuals who desired to catch up the West.BR Korean press were very unfavorable to the Protests of 1968 for their leftist and viloent tendency whilst reporting it in real time. Korean intellectuals such as Song, Gunho tried to distance themselves from May 1968 for reasons mentioned above. Especially, He pointed out the moral decadence of the May 1968.BR Nam, Jaehee, a jounalist, was sympathetic to May 1968 exceptionally. But it was an incomprehensible thing of developed countries to most intellectuals. In particular, the sexuality problem presented by May 1968 was unacceptible and seen as a moral depravity to them. It seemed that they tried to exploit it in ethical renewal of the Korean nation.
