Abstract

Abstract Dr. Young has been internationally recognized for research on seed transmitted fungal endophytes and their impact on forage grazing systems, endophyte diversity in native grasses and crop wild relatives, pecan scab and a root rot pathogen of alfalfa. She has discovered genes for the synthesis of bioprotective alkaloids, identified and described new endophyte species, and developed genomic and culture resources. Dr. Young will share research on utilizing genomic techniques to better understand the various endophyte species in forage grazing systems.
