Abstract

Adnexal torsion is the fifth most common gynaecologic surgical emergency and remains both a diagnostic and management challenge. Salpingo-oophorectomy is commonly performed, the torted adnexum considered unsalvageable. We describe a method for conservation of adnexal structures incorporating adnexal detorsion with oophoropexy (with or without concomitant cystectomy or cyst drainage)( 1 Vancaillie T. Schmidt E.H. Recovery of ovarian function after laparoscopic treatment of acute adnexal torsion. Reproductive Medicine. 1987; 32: 561-562 PubMed Google Scholar ).
