Abstract

We prospectively identified low- to intermediate-risk chest pain patients in the emergency department observation units (EDOU) setting who qualified for lifestyle changes or pharmaceutical intervention, according to 2004 National Cholesterol Education Program-Adult Treatment Program III (NCEP-ATP III) guidelines. We made recommendations to patients regarding lifestyle changes and pharmaceutical therapy, and measured compliance 30 days after EDOU discharge.
