Abstract

초록·키워드 목차 오류제보하기 This paper examines the Korean community"s response to the demolition of the largest Korean village, which name is Kaech"ŏngni in Vladivostok. First of all, the demolition of the Kaech"ŏngni was the "quarantine politics" of Governor-General Gondatti. The discussion on the demolition of Kaech"ŏngni has been a result of the urban policy based on racism. Besides, the demolition measures have the nature of policing to quell the growing anti-Japanese movement after the annexation of Korea. Second, the Koreans have developed their own sense of hygiene, but they have been driven out of town. After the demolition of Kaech"ŏngni, Koreans sought to stabilize housing in the new town Shinhanch"on by naturalizing. Russia oppressed the Chinese and granted Koreans Russian citizenship. In the process, Koreans showed limitations in aiding racism. For Russia, the naturalization of Koreans was just a means of developing and stabilizing the Far East. Therefore, Koreans" naturalization of Russia was based on ethnic discrimination apart from the legal equal rights. However, the naturalization of Koreans in Russia has led to anti-Japanese activities, making Russia and Japan continue to pay attention to the existence of Koreans. The Korean people"s subtle deviation from Russian naturalization is meaningful in that they revealed the contradiction between naturalization and racism.
