Abstract

This chapter discusses implicit method applicable to parabolic partial differential equations. An implicit numerical scheme is obtained. An implicit scheme will numerically approximate the solution of a parabolic equation and allow large time steps to be taken. An implicit scheme often has the advantage that time steps can be taken, that are much larger than the time steps that can be taken for an explicit method. The difference scheme will utilize a uniform grid, with a spacing of Δx in the x direction and a spacing of Δt in the t direction.
