Abstract
South Asian American (SAA) youth face challenges elevating risk for mental illness yet underutilize mental health services. Parent-child dynamics related to differential levels of acculturation, peer relationships, and mental health–related stigma in South Asian families have been identified as culturally specific stressors for SAA youth. This presentation demonstrates how a television program can serve as a tool to promote cultural humility in engaging Indian American children and families in mental health treatment.
