Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze changes in factors on citizens' life satisfaction before and during COVID-19 pandemic. According to the 2019 and 2021 Hwaseong-si(City) social surveys, it was found that citizen’s life satisfaction has increased during this period. However, as a result of analyzing the factors on citizens’ life satisfaction using a Ordered logit model, the influence of factors on citizens’ life satisfaction has changed. Especially economic factors(education level, income, debt status) have become more influential. This means that in the context of the spread of COVID-19, the gap in citizens' life satisfaction can be further widened by socio-economic factors. Through the results of this study, local governments will need a more meticulous approach to improve citizens’ life satisfaction in disaster situations. In a disaster situation, local governments need to closely observe changes in citizens' life satisfaction according to their socio-economic circumstances and establish flexible governance and public service delivery systems that can appropriately support welfare, medical, and health services.
