Abstract

Background: Melasma is a common hyperpigmentation disorder often involving the face and neck with ∼5-6 million women affected annually in the United States. Patients have negatively impacted emotional well-being and quality of life often prompting medical therapies. Treatment modalities are diverse and influenced by various factors including cost, prescribing behaviors, and patients’ expectations. Quantifying these differences is essential to determine its impact on patient care and satisfaction.
