Abstract
Introduction: Prematurity is associated with higher rates of infant morbimortality comparing to full-term pregnancies. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the management of birth has any impact on the neonatal outcomes and short-term complications of early preterm infants. Methods: A retrospective observational study was performed at a Portuguese tertiary centre including births between 24+0 and 32+6 weeks of gestation. These deliveries were divided in two groups: spontaneous birth group (SBG) and medically indicated birth (MIBG).
