Abstract

Many interval number ranking methods cannot represent the different attitudes of decision makers with different riskappetites. Therefore, interval numbers are expressed in the Rectangular Coordinate System (RCS). After mining theinterval numbers in the RCS, the Symmetry Axis Compensation Factor, which is known as λ, was introduced, andthe Equivalent Function of the Goal Interval Number (GIN) was deduced. Thus, the interval number ranking methodconsidering symmetry axis compensation was defi ned along with its application procedures. Additionally, the feasibilityand effectiveness of this method were veri ed through examples. This method is intuitive and simple and can representmultiple attitudes of decision makers with different risk appetites.
