Abstract

The promising non-intrusive technique to measure velocity in microchannel flow was developed utilizing Raman scattering from NaCl solution. Just after NaCl solution was injected in static flow by a syringe pump, two-dimensional concentration distribution of NaCl solution in microchannel flow was visualized in time series using the calibration curve between the Raman intensity ratio and NaCl concentration. The present visualized technique was performed with the time resolution of 91.9 ms and spatial resolution of 31.3 μm x 31.3 μm. Finally, flow velocity was calculated from the displacement of peak value of concentration distribution. The obtained velocity agreed well with parabolic velocity profile.
