Abstract

The technological development in the area of nanoscience has made it possible to use it for the development of wireless nanosensor networks (WNSN) that can be used to build decision support systems to address real-world problems. WNSN can be an important tool to collect and monitor agricultural parameters for the modern agricultural practices. This chapter describes the architecture of WNSN that consists of a sensing unit, actuation unit, power unit, processing unit, storage unit, and communication unit. The working of WNSN and its application for the agricultural sector such as precision agriculture, crop health monitoring, and agricultural land monitoring are discussed in detail. In the coming years, WNSN can replace the traditional agricultural practices and can be effectively used to improve the farm produce by monitoring and controlling various agricultural parameters for precision farming.
