Abstract

In this chapter, we discuss the electric and photonic properties of hybrid semiconductor/plasmonic nanowires (NWs). First, the SP waveguide in metallic NWs and exciton–SP interaction involving metallic NWs are introduced. Then the coupling between semiconductor NWs and novel metallic nanostructures is discussed, focusing on SP-modulated linear optical properties (absorption, scattering, and emission) and nonlinear behaviors in NWs. Finally, hybrid plasmonic waveguide devices based on semiconductor and metal NWs are discussed.
