Abstract

AbstractThe 17O NMR spectra of 58 α,β‐unsaturated (vinyl) ethers were recorded in CDCl3 solution. The dependence of the chemical shift on the number and position of alkyl substituents in the vinyl moiety and on the nature and bulkiness of the alkoxy group was explored. The oxygen chemical shifts proved to be sufficiently sensitive to structural factors to make 17O NMR spectroscopy a useful tool in the investigation of the electronic and spatial structures of vinyl ethers.
