Abstract

Minimally invasive Temporomandibular Joint surgery (MITS) is a lower risk method of managing some patients with temporomandibular disorders. This however requires specific hand eye co-ordination skills which are not easily transferable from other aspects of training. The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of a 1 day simulation MITS course in providing the knowledge and skills required by the JCST training curriculum in OMFS in the UK, including performing arthrocentesis and arthroscopy.
